Mind Spirit Body Hypnosis: What can hypnosis not treat?

I tend to hear this question often, so let me clarify who is not a candidate for Hypnotherapy. If you suffer from hallucinations or delusions (or any other psychotic condition) hypnosis is not for you.

If you are under the influence of alcohol or narcotics you will be asked to reschedule. Any professional Clinical Hypnotherapist will ask and observe your behaviour for any contraindications.

Also, if you truly do not want to be helped or are being pressured hypnosis will not work for you. Hypnosis will only work if you want to be helped and are willing to follow and accept the process.

Hypnosis is a technique that has been used for centuries to help individuals overcome various challenges. This remedy involves inducing a trance-like state in the patient to get entry to the subconscious mind and promote positive adjustments in their behaviour, emotions, and thoughts.

Despite its many benefits, hypnosis has its limitations, and there are certain conditions that it cannot treat. Here are some of the matters that hypnosis cannot treat:

Medical conditions
While hypnosis can be used to alleviate pain and manage sure medical conditions, it cannot cure diseases. It is no longer a substitute for medical treatment, and individuals must not rely on it as their sole treatment for any ailment.

Mental illness
Hypnosis can be used to manage symptoms of mental illness such as anxiety and depression, but it cannot treat mental illness. Mental illness requires a comprehensive therapy plan that may include medication, therapy, and different forms of support.

Memory retrieval
Hypnosis is often portrayed in films and TV shows as a way to retrieve lost memories, but this is now not entirely accurate. Hypnosis can help individuals take into account events that they may have forgotten, but it can’t retrieve memories that were never formed.

Instant personality changes
Hypnosis cannot change an individual’s personality overnight. While it can assist individuals to change certain behaviours and concept patterns, it cannot fundamentally alter their personalities.

Mind control
Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis can’t control an individual’s mind. Individuals who are hypnotized are in control of their actions and can select to reject suggestions that do not align with their values or beliefs.

Magic cure
Hypnosis is not a magic cure for any problem. It requires commitment and effort on the part of the individual present process of the therapy. It is a tool that can help individuals achieve their goals, but it cannot do the work for them.

What hypnosis helps

Hypnosis is a very powerful tool to help those with the following (but not limited to):

  • weight management
  • smoking cessation
  • confidence | self-esteem boost
  • anxiety | stress relief
  • insomnia
  • addictions
  • sport performance
  • academic | career boost
  • pain relief…

Once again this is just a partial list of what hypnosis may be able to help you with.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a completely natural state, safe, and effective. We go in and out of this state (trance) often daily. You may notice this “daydream” feeling while driving your car, reading a novel, or hyper-focused on a TV show. Hypnosis is a guided trance state via a Hypnotist.

As I mentioned earlier, hypnosis is completely safe. You will not lose control, or be open to any mind control tactics. You are, and will always remain fully aware, hear every word and simply feel calm, relaxed, and focused.

During a hypnotic state, the subject may experience several unusual sensations (known as a hypnotic phenomenon).  These sensations may include the feeling of warmth, chills, heavy or light feeling limbs, eye or muscle twitch, unable to move an arm or leg, vibration, and time distortion. All these sensations are expected and will cease quickly after your session.

A trained and professional Hypnotist will be able to bypass your conscious mind, beyond resistance, and communicate directly with the unconscious mind where behavioural change occurs – this is where the transformation begins.

In conclusion, hypnosis is a powerful tool that can be used to promote positive changes in behaviour, emotions, and thoughts. However, it has its limitations, and there are certain conditions that it cannot treat. Individuals should seek the recommendation of a qualified healthcare professional before the usage of hypnosis as part of their treatment plan.
